A quiet achiever who drove the creation of Australia’s first town dedicated to the work of a single internationally-renowned street artist has been recognised with the inaugural Outstanding Contribution to Australian Art Tourism Award.

Eight public art experiences have been recognised as the best in the country for art-loving visitors at the Australian Street Art Awards last night on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The Gold Award winners of the 2020 Awards, a Tourism Awards for Public Art program, include remote artworks up to 450 kilometres from their state capital.

With a charter to encourage Australians to see our country first, the inaugural Australian Street Art Awards will identify places that should firmly be on the “must visit” list for domestic and international visitors.
